About the Event
Every era of progress has been shaped by voices that refused to be silenced. This presentation traces the history of disability advocacy and confronts the realities the disability community faces today — not as abstract history, but as a living, ongoing story.
Presenter Brett Grycowski knows that story firsthand. Born with two speech disabilities, Apraxia of Speech and Dysarthria, Brett has spent his life navigating a world not built for him. He brings that lived experience directly into the room, weaving personal narrative with pivotal historical moments and community insight to create a talk that's honest, grounded, and hard to forget.
This isn't just a presentation about disability it's a call to see inclusivity differently. Through the adversity of his own story, Brett challenges audiences to rethink what empowerment looks like, and to help build a world where disability is met with understanding, not obstacles.
