The Power of PRIDE

by Lucy LeGear, GCC member

I loved going to pridefest with my mom and friend Erin, I loved taking to people and making bracelets but that wasn't just it. The festival felt like a whole new world, one full of kindness and belonging. Being there made it feel like no wrong was in the world. That is a world I want to live in, I hope it will be when I'm older.

There was color everywhere, flags waving, people laughing, music in the air. Everyone was so different, yet it felt like we all understood each other. Strangers smiled just because, and treated everyone like family. It made me remember how powerful love and acceptance can be. I didn’t have to hide who I was or pretend to be something I’m not. I wish every day could feel just like that.

I hope one day everyone is loved. An earth where people don’t have to wait for a festival to feel accepted.
